WASHINGTON — The Justice Department announced today that it has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against the city of Milwaukee on behalf of Michael Crivello, a detective in the Milwaukee Police Department, alleging the city violated the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). The settlement, embodied in a consent decree that the parties have submitted to the court for approval, calls for Milwaukee to provide Crivello with a retroactive promotion date in the rank of detective, as well as $21,190 in backpay, retroactive seniority and other benefits that flow from the date adjustment. California Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) was proud to be an active sponsor at this year’s PIHRA Legal Update January 12-14 at each of the three 1-day seminars. During each of the three days, with the support of our partners at the Department of Labor and the US Armed Forces Employer Partnership Initiative Program, ESGR interfaced with approximately 50 Employers directly and was able to provide an overview of the various support our agencies provide, to over 1000 members in attendance.
